Growing up in the 70s, I loved listening to Beatles songs on the radio. My parents were never fans, but I discovered them myself and have always enjoyed singing along to these timeless classics.
Music back then was just excellent. Let's face it, in the UK we have nothing that can ever match the great music we had back in the 60s and 70s (and perhaps some of the early 80s). We were the tops!
But now, I am so embarrassed at the state of the music scene in my own country, and instead I listen to some amazingly talented foreign bands like Nightwish from Finland/Sweden and Dutch band Epica, plus loads of other bands I'm slowly discovering. And then there's the wonderful Renaissance music-inspired Blackmore's Night (Ritchie Blackmore's band that he has with his American wife Candice Night). If it wasn't for the internet (and especially YouTube) I would never have discovered these great bands.
But for now, it's back to The Beatles
